This blog post will have very limited appeal.  It is for my fellow Choaties.  Remember second period Math followed by third period English?  Remember how the clocks in the math building were always late, and those in upper campus always early?  Remember ice and snow and sleet?  The PMAC tiles? The back path through the woods?   Remember the shoes we used to wear?

Well, just for you:  a video clip of Mexico’s first high-heel 100 metre race.   No stamina, really.

After church today, a member of the congregation pulled me aside and slipped a carefully shrouded package from under her coat.

‘Here.  This is for you.  I know it’s not allowed in church anymore but…’

Most curious, I began to unravel the packaging.

A lovely jar of home made bramble jam — forbidden for lack of a food safety certificate.

Nothing like living dangerously.

On the way home from the ICRC (inter-church relations committee) meeting I rather suddenly became ill. Lots of people had to be told, since I didn’t feel able to celebrate the evening eucharist. It was pretty grim till 7.30 pm, then very suddenly over. I was just pondering whether I could risk nibbling on some rice, when I got a text from someone who said that in her family there was a tradition of ‘poorly presents’ and mine was hanging on the door. How lovely.
