everyday blessings #22

A field-trip to Hobbycraft to get supplies for the Candle-making Workshop.
Laughter, lunch, and finding a new route home.

So much more fun than the things I had thought I’d be doing today, and lucky that I realised that there was no day next week for getting it sorted.

If you live near enough:

Candlemas at St Mary’s

Friday, 29 January.  7.30 pm.   Quiz night in aid of Haiti.  £5 per ticket.  Teams of five (children come free and aren’t counted in the ‘five’).  Please comment or email me to book tickets.

Saturday, 30 January.  10 am – 1 pm.  Candle decorating workshop for all ages.  Kid’s candle making, glass painting for votive holders (all ages), wire beading (teens & adults).  £2 donation requested to help cover costs.  Any profit will go towards the Haiti appeal.

Sunday, 31 January.  10.30 am.  All Age Worship for Candlemas with blessing of the candles.

On Saturday, each person will be invited to make a candle for themselves, and a candle to give away.

On Sunday, the candles will be offered as we pray for the people we will give them to.  After communion the candles will be blessed, and we will ‘go forth’ with the candles — bearing ‘a light to lighten the nations’ (and an excuse to call round at a friend’s).

bloggers and breadmaking

Mother Ruth caught the scent of bread on Angelhooves’ facebook account, and between them they had an idea…

Bloggers and Breadmaking
Saturday, 6 March — 10 am
St Mary’s Rectory, Dunblane

Hard to believe that it’s been a whole year since the cookie day got cancelled.  But now, we seem to be on more savory pursuits.  Ruth has never made bread, so this will be a basics workshop as well as a recipe swap.

I dare say there will be some sour-dough starter fermenting in various stages.  There shall have to be a sweet bread too.

So, is anyone interested?

Please respond in the comments and pass word along.
