One of the things that has been sitting on my ‘to do’ list since Christmas is ‘Write to thank bloggers for Love Blooms Bright.’
Love Blooms had a smaller following this Advent, but the writing was often stunning, with a happy mix of styles and personalities.
So, the question is: would anyone like to make a Lent Blog happen? We are looking for a minimum of 7 people and a maximum of 14.
Would you please let me know
- if you are willing
- how often you would be willing to post (weekly, 4 times, occasionally)
- if you’re not a writer, but want to read it, you could let me know that too. Knowing there is an audience (congregation?) adds incentive.
Here’s the link to last year’s blog: Beauty from Chaos. I may try to revamp it a bit, so if you get the timing right you may find creative chaos all around.
I would. Would be happy to post once every 7 days and really hope it happens!
Greetings,
If you would like an Orthodox Priest I would be happy to post once a week.
Fr. Peter
Kimberly – I enjoyed reading the Advent blog in 2007 and 2008, and the Lent blog last year and am looking forward to this years.
Regretably I am not that good at writting the thoughtful reflective postings that make the blogs such a gem.
Stewart
Thanks, all. Peter, I’m glad you’ve been in touch. I was planning on emailing you.
Stewart, would you like to submit photographs?? Sometimes a break from words is good.
I’m up for being involved… Not sure how often I can do it, I’ll have to think about that looking at the diary which is rather busy, but id like to do two or three posts at least…
I could help out occasionally but don’t wnat to commit to a regular slot. sorry.
we’re still quite thin on the ground.
So far we have:
Rosemary
Christine
Fr Peter
(and I)
— willing to do regular posts
Mary and Ruth willing to do occasional posts. This is not enough to sustain the blog.
Would those of you with blogs — especially those with large SEC readerships — please link to this post and encourage budding writers to have a go.
to those who are writing: In tidying up the site, I realise I’ve made it look too much like my own blog. Does anyone mind this?
I can join in. I’d prefer occasional posts, but regular okay too if that’s what’s needed.
PS. is there some way to archive (I’m not suggesting delete!) last year’s posts on Beauty from Chaos? It’s a little weird to see all the ‘Alleluia’s’ there and I imagine will feel even more so next week. Being not very skilled in the WordPress world, I’m not sure what’s possible and what isn’t.
Thanks Elizabeth.
You are quite right about the Alleluias.
I’ve found a way of doing it by getting the front page to show only one post. That means there will need to be a daily adjustment to the settings once we get started, so I may need reminding!
I’m adding your name to the list above so I can keep track.
I’ll do a couple – rather not do a regular one either.
I’m not sure I can contribute anything, but for the record I’ll be watching and hoping there’s something to enjoy similar to last year 🙂
Thanks, Tim. We need that encouragement right now.
I think the idea of one picture without comment a week (at least) is inspired. I have a picture I could contribute to that.
Kimberly – Good idea, I had not thought about pictures, however I any happy to contribute a few to the blog. I do not think I can make it weekly (as I am struggling to do so on my own blog).
You’re all determined to make the scheduling easy for me, aren’t you?
We are totally ruthless.
Kimberly I would be happy to contribute if you are still looking for people to join in.
Congratulations on the new appointment.
Just to make it a little easier, if its needed I feel I can do a weekly one as long as I avoid weekends and Mondays, where I have no time whatsoever, (and im not organised enough to do things in advance before you suggest that!!!)
thanks Mary. Yes please, Kirstin.
I’m going to try to work out a schedule tomorrow, and will be in touch will all who were willing…
Another conundrum for you Kimberly – Brother and Sister offering to contibute to your Lenten blog.
Had my camera with me on my trip to London today – there may be one or two suitable images from the trip.
Ah, I hadn’t realised which Kirsten it was. That poses no problems. I doubt you’ll be swapping family stories.
I am doing lent this year which will be my 13th time since the age of 16. This is the first year I am doing a blog of my experiences.

I will be reading!! Given my own brand of chaos at the moment, even offering an occasional slot would be foolish, this year.
Congratulations on the new job and the indefinite leave to stay.. (I’m all behind, I know, but I’ve been away.)
