The church has been a hive of activity today in preparation for tomorrow’s wedding. The organist had to flee the hoover. The scent of flowers and furniture polish fills the air. The mower has mown and the strimmer is strimming. No matter how beautiful the finished product, one never guesses how long it actually takes.
Thanks to all who took part in the second Midge-bites & Candlelight tonight. Much more relaxed and more fun than last time — not least because the rector’s warden has figured out how to keep the rector calm. Congregation to friends & visitors ratio much improved. Sausage to Spaniel ratio not bad either.
(next time would someone please remind me to take pictures once it actually starts.)
The local swans are persevering in their attempts to teach the tourists silence, but it seems no one is listening.
Whatever else may happen in a day, Molly and I are always thankful for the company at evensong. Today consisting of two adult rabbits, one baby, a pair of blackbirds, a dozen wood-pigeons, too many finch to count and a young deer.
